Imagine being T. Being a victim of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham from the age of 11. Being the focus of several national newspapers when she became pregnant as a result of the repeated abuse at the age of 12. Year after year of abuse and adversity, being let down by every service which should have protected her.
As a young woman T fought to rebuild her life and not let her abuse define her. In 2017 T gave evidence against a number of her abusers at Crown Court earlier this year, and although they were convicted, and all received prison sentences, T felt disillusioned and used by her experiences in the criminal justice system.
We are opening our conference on 5th January 2018 with a keynote speech from T because there remain so many lessons to be learned from her past and current experiences. T’s fight for justice continues. And does the struggle for so many others. We hope you can join us to find out more about the part you can play in #MakingJusticeWork
